...Is what I'm trying to write.
I want it to be simple.
As simple as converting a three dimensional map full of arcs and curves, to a two dimensional, flat earth view, can be.
The purpose of the course is to teach you enough so that could create a 'henge' or rather, create a circle - a henge would mean digging... and know how to align it with anything that you consider significant.
By doing this you will gain an insight into prehistoric structures and be better able to assess how they may have been used.
Also you will have made something fundamentally interesting.
I want this course to be useful, and when ever it touches on mythology or archaeology, for it to be detailed enough for anyone else to check out. I am allergic to sweeping generalisations. Statements such as 'Indo-European myth links the warrior to the planet Mars', or 'Bronze Age people buried females facing east' are useful as a starting point, but don't help when they are mistaken for rules.
That said...
The course will take one year to complete- start December 1st 2014 until Dec' 1 2015.
One topic and assignment a month.
Pass or fail is determined by you passing or failing the final assessment: creating a monument (size not significant) that embodies the astronomical principal you wish it to mirror.
The course will be free because anyone who signs up, because I've never done this before and so you will be helping me to write a better course.
